Our client relied on complex Excel files to manage over 100 construction projects, with project leads sending emails that were manually entered into status updates. Budget and actuals were manually extracted from the accounting system each week, causing delays in identifying projects over budget or behind schedule.
Objective
- Create and connect a SQL server to automatically interface financial data
- Simplify process for obtain updates from project leads
- Develop construction-centric dashboards critical to leadership and project leads
- Develop a security structure to limit visibility per management’s determination
Solution
- Developed an automated SQL server to house financial data
- Designed Power Apps forms and visibility to projects to enable real-time updates to project budgets and timelines
- Designed and iterated dashboards management and project leads utilize during weekly operations calls
- Utilized Microsoft security to limit access to each project leads own projects, while enabling full visibility to management
Developed an automated solution that was fully adopted across the company, providing integrated financial and operational visibility at the project, project lead, and management levels.
